"After reading the reviews I ordered a size up which I'm pleased about. (the trousers seem quite roomy, the top smallish) They are definitely better for slim children and the sleeves are tight fitting, but what I love about them is that my son kicks the covers off at night and at least his trousers and sleeved stay down! Lovely quality and very cosy! They look fab and my son loves them!"

"I just bought a pair of these in the sale in the red pirate/stripe mix for my son who is three years and three months & of average height & build. Ordered age 4, but the reviews weren't available when I ordered so I was very doubtful about them fitting after I saw other opinions.

However was pleasantly suprised. Yes, they are a close fit but had no trouble getting them over my sons hands or arms, even though they did look ridiculously narrow out of the packet. They are actually slightly loose at the waist, not tight at all.

Fabulous patterns.My son loved them & refused to take them off...he's wearing them now, and he says they're comfy .Oddly, the stripy pair seem a little stretchier than the pirate pair. Could have done with them being a little longer in the leg as am not sure these will fit next winter, and he usually wears Boden trousers age 2-3 so that was a suprise, but over all I'm happy with them.Maybe I got lucky but i certainly didn't need to buy 2 or 3 sizes bigger as most people unfortunately had to. If I went to age 5-6, suspect they'd be too big at the waist."

"I loved the spitfire print on these so had to get them for my 7 month old son i got him 12 - 18 months and he could not get his hands through the cuff i dont think any baby or child could unless they were a premature newborn they really need to make the cuffs far more stretchy"

"This was my first order with Boden. We bought the sky pack with the spitfires. Having read the other reviews and the problems with the fit, I followed the advice to order up a couple of sizes. I ordered the age 7 for my average sized 3 year and nine month old. The pyjama top was fine, quite snug fit but the arms are quite long and cuffs tight. This is not a problem as the tight cuffs avoid the arms rising up at night, keeping him warm. Lovely brushed cotton on the inside by the way. The bottoms were very long and the waist big, I have to roll the waist band over once...at least he will get lots of wear next year as well. All in all very pleased with them...needless to say my little boy loves them, he never wants to take the top of and wants to wear to school!!! Shame that there is so much difference between top and bottom....would recommend but something needs to be done with sizing."

"the quality of these pj's is great, but sadly the fit is terrible!
i did as suggested in another review and bought up two sizes for my long skinny son.
even so, the arms are too tight (are they made to fit any human child?) and the waist miles too big. i would have sent back but he wouldn't part with them so I've resorted to the fiddly task of altering them myself! not worth the hassle."

"would recommend to friends,but in doing so would also advise to go up a size or two for their sons.
my sons love their pjs but whilst my 9 year old has no problems putting his on,my five year old struggles to get both his hands and feet past the tight fit cuffs.We have the sky set the colours are great,both my sons love the plane set even more."

"i bought these for my son a size up, but could they were such a tight fit we could not get them on his arms. He is a medium build. Like the design, but not practical for me."

"Other reviewers said it was tight in the arms, so I purchased my sons regular size as well as a size up. My son is quite thin and the sleeves were crazy tight, while the waist was large. They are soooo cute and 100% cotton which is so hard to find, but we just could not make them work."

"I agree with other customers - buy a size up for a better Long John fit. Had to buy age 5 for my 3 and a half year old. Very tight on the wrists. Great quality though and these pyjamas have become the favourite bed time outfit."

"I bought the 18-24 long john pyjamas for my 12 month old boy. He's not skinny but he's no whopper either and after battling for 5 minutes to get his arms down the sleeves I gave up. Unless your little one is super skinny then don't do it!"

"a lot of the reviews describe the fit..true they are tight at the wrist but give them a little stretch and they are perfect.

sizing, well, my 21mth old has the size 5 and my 4yr old has the size 7

they are so cosy and comfy, fleecey inside and cute....the children love them!"

"These are nice and off good quality and style (especially love the plane print!!!) but the ribbing around the hand area is too tight and makes it very hard to get little kids hands through...."

"I feel like the jump between sizes is sometimes too great. My children are skinny, so the waist and bottom on many items are too big. By the time they have grown in, the leg is too short.

I only buy these sorts of things on sale."

"I love love love the boden pajamas for my boys but be sure to order way bigger! my 1 1/2 year old is getting a bit big for the 3t's and my 3 1/2 yr old is still in the size 6T's. my boys wear true to size in gap clothes so i know that they are not over sized kids! these are really quality, comfy pajamas. i highly recommend these but go big."

"These PJs are so soft and thick. My son loves wearing them. But they are way too tight for big built kids. I have a very petite 4 yr. old who is wearing a size 7. the sleeves are extremely tight. GOOD FOR VERY THIN KIDS."

"These pajamas are the best quality I've ever come across for a nice thick cotton. Lovely design, very poor fit. My child is an average size 7 year old. I purchased the net size up (I think it is for 10 year olds) and after 1 washing in cold water with only a partial drying in the dryer (yes, that's right, I hang the pjs to dry so they won't shrink too much)-- the top of the pjs is already small on my child and the arms are skin tight."

"I was concerned these might not be warm enough for chilly SF nights, but they actually feel a little like flannel inside. they have quickly become my 5 year old son's favorite. Very cute and comfy and wash really well."

"Gorgeous to look at and my son loves them but weird fit!! skinny arms and legs and narrow fit generally - great for a long skinny child. My 50th centile 3 year old boy only just fits into age 5.(other Boden clothes are perfect for him at age 2-3 years) I would order more for style, quality and warmth but not for fit - shame. Boden please remake these but adjust the fit!!!"
