"After looking at this for months I finally decided to buy the brown when it went in the sale. I had wanted my usual 10l but as there had already been a sell out on the brown short I took a gamble when some more came in. I am pleased I did, with boots I just about get away with it at 5ft 3 and age 45 but would prefer a longer length.Also this had been worn by someone before as there were crease marks where someone had been sitting down which I felt was poor esp as garment is still £45.Moral to story, snap it earlier in the sale you get your correct size and not others cast offs. All in all still looks good."

"I bought this in the brown.. I'd had my fingers crossed for it to come into the sale. The colours and the quality are great as usual. I just have one qualm about the applique.. I think it's deliberate that the edging is slightly frayed as it adds to it's retro appeal.. but I find that just holds it back from being able to double up as smart wear."

"I have several of these skirts and could not live without them! They have washed beautifully, iron great and the colours stay rich. They go with numerous tops, so it always feels that I have a new outfit on. I would not recommend putting them through the tumble dryer, as the colour does fade, but this is not recommended in any event on the label. I always buy a 10R and even though I have had these for several years, they still fit!"

"I adore the Fun Skirts and practically live in them. I did not have any from this particular season though and decided to order when i saw them in the sale.
I got the brown in my usual size (12) and it is as perfect as always! I was a little worried as some reviewers disliked fit of the pockets and i thought maybe the patchwork spots might look a bit 'crafty' but in real life this skirt looks even better than in the picture. A real unusual piece, happy and quirky!
I personally love the pockets, i don't find they stick out at all, they are not invisible though, they just act as usual pockets do and my tops usually cover the top part of the pocket anyway, smoothing it out even more. The fabric is high quality and the velvet band at the top adds to the loveliness, even if my tops always cover it, it makes me smile to know it's there. Wonderful! Can't wait for A/W 09's fun skirt (not too keen on S/S designs)"

"I bought this skirt in the brown and love its versatility. It can be worn with so many different coloured tops. The only down side for me is the pockets that stick out when wearing the skirt; a shame as it does make the material ride up round the tummy. I would say it is expensive as not a perfect fit."

"Nice skirt, seems like good quality, but at 5ft 3 it was too long for me. The skirt ended below my knee and so gave a frummy kind of "Queen Mother" look as I call it! It's a shame because it's a nice skirt & I would have liked to have kept it, but had to send it back for a refund. I wish Boden would cater more for the slightly shorter person, particualrly in these kind of skirts!"

"I bought the black and grey skirt and I really love it. I've worn it a few times and it always gets a positive comment. It looks great with boots and tights now that the winter is here and even though it's two toned I find it can be worn with a contrasting colour (e.g. coral) for a bit of colour.

On the subject of the pockets - I don't find them as much of an issue as others, and they wouldn't stop me buying one of these skirts again, but to me they don't add great value either (I don't keep anything in them!) so I won't be upset if they go.

I remain a big fan of the Boden fun skirt!"

"The ultimate practical skirt for dog walkers, at last somewhere for the treats, bags etc. The pockets are a stroke of genius, please don't take them away. The shape of the skirt is flattering and the fabrics are gorgeous but the finish with the hook and eye can let it down. I have several of these skirts for both summer and winter and they are great with heels and flats (and wellies)."

"This shape of skirt always suits me and I think of it as being a Boden speciality. I've bought the summer A-line a few times. This one is a great fit on waist and hips. Regarding the pockets, they're not a big problem on me and I am not a boy hip shape. But I would probably prefer the skirt without pockets. Still, it hangs well and is definitely special enough to keep. I think you could wear it day or night. I ordered the black and a word of warning the flowers are definitely grey; darker than they appear on the main picture on the website."

"I have bought several of these fun skirts over the years as I loved the fit and feel however I hate the new pockets Boden please remove these and go back to the old pocket-less design. With pockets the skirt gives you a permanent bloated pot belly look once the skirt is worn more than once, nothing like the previous sleek design"

"I have three of Boden's Fun Skirts now and love them. The material is soft to the touch. I don't agree with the reviews that say the pockets stick out, I think this is the fabric as it is heavy and holds its shape as an A-line skirt (not unflatteringly). I'm 5'8", short waisted and top heavy. The regular length skirt looked awkward on me, too short, but the long length looks just right."

"Being only 5ft 1 and normally a size 14, sometimes 12 I have found Boden's sizes challenging at times; either too short or too long! This skirt was a pleasant surprise. Lovely fit, very flattering and just a nice length. I bought the regular. Great with tights and suede boots. Good for the occasional office meeting with smart shirt but also great for the local pub dressed down a bit.

All in all a winner...."

"This skirt is even more lovely 'in the flesh'. The colours are bold enough to brighten up the dullest winters day. As usual the quality is excellent. You could easily pay as much on the high street and find the item not nearly as well made.

"I have last winter and summer's fun skirts and this one does not disappoint! I am not very big in the hips and it fits me perfectly with no problem with the pockets, (which some reviewers have mentioned,) on me at all. The length is just right and the appliqué and beads are lovely. I bought the olive, which isn't normally one of my colours but the detail makes it much more versatile. I received it yesterday and wore it to work today, where it has already been admired. I might get the brown if it comes back into stock sometime soon."

"Loved this in the catalogue. Have another from a couple of years ago which I wear and wear. But the pockets made the fit really awkward on me- added inches to my hips in the way the other doesn't. Sad to send it back as I liked the design but it hung poorly and was unflattering."
