"I'm a size 12 and have tried this cami in quite a few colours: Black is a true black; Chocolate is a lightish, bitter, chocolate brown with not much warmth to it; Clover and Lawn are a little darker than they appear on my screen (Lawn is a lovely, warmish green); and Charcoal Marl, Marine (turns indigo in some lights) and Violet (not much pink to it in actual fact, so more of a true purple) are similar to the website photos.
The Charcoal Marl fabric is very different to the others - it has a slightly brushed feel to it and is softer than the others, which feel more smooth, like a swimsuit or control lingerie. The Marl drapes around the tummy area, whereas the other colours cling like swimwear, and offer a tiny bit of support in that area. The neckline is dictated by the empire line. I have a small bust and, once I had pulled down the empire line to where it should go, the neckline was very low - distance from centre front neckline to empire line is about 4.25" on all the colours I tried, except for Marine, which gives you an extra 0.25" of modesty. Some of the necklines gaped when I folded my arms in front of me and also when I did the 'bend forward' test. I think they will all most likely do this as they stretch with use.
I am going to choose two to keep - certainly the Charcoal Marl, as it skims my squidgy tummy and is a good, versatile colour (black doesn't suit me). I'd probably wear it with a simple cardigan like the Favourite V-neck Cardigan. I'd take advantage of the skin-tight fit of the other colours by using it under a sheer top where I'd need something to cover up with, but didn't want any extra bulk in the layers.
The empire line (which doesn't run around the back of the top, although the neckline trim does) does look cute, but it makes this top less versatile. I bought some of the Grosgrain Trim Camis from a few months ago and I can adjust the neckline for each outfit, as well as using them as underwear on colder days (I wish JB would give us some thermal vests!). I hope we see another camisole (with a higher neckline) in the Marl fabric next Autumn, as I really do like having the option of a drapey camisole. The lace trim gets a thumbs up, but be aware that it will create a slight bulge if you are wearing a slim fit sweater over it, for example."
